Advanced: Time to shine!
This course if perfect for you if: You’ve been playing for quite a while, taken the ‘Intermediate – really get playing!’ level, know your chord vocabulary really well. Can make the Bb, D7, & F7 shapes very easily, are very fluently reading tablature (single note melodies), Are playing very fluidly and want to work on barre chords, moveable chord shapes and playing ‘up the neck’ next. With more challenging pieces and strum feels, and some music theory too. Be prepared for a challenge!
Repertoire will draw from a catalogue of folk, pop, jazz, blues, and classical music. There’s something to learn and enjoy for everyone. Each term will have a new repertoire of music and is designed to be continued in more than once to really consolidate all the concepts.
This level is also designed to assist the advanced section of the Ruby’s Ukulele Orchestra!

This course will be presented on-line, and interactive in the Ruby's Ukes Ukulele Zoom Room, an experience where everyone gets a front seat, including chart screen sharing and downloadable handouts. Easy to follow zoom instructions sent out in advance make this an enjoyable, fun way to improve your uke skills!
The classes are a weekly 90 minute session and will leave you smiling and a whole lot smarter. The perfect way to keep inspired and have an appointment to play music each week. These classes are all 13 yrs+, and are like a real, live, class with one student attending per registration creating an authentic individual connection with the teacher as well as the class. For your sense of comfort and relaxation, these classes will not be recorded so you can kick back and just enjoy being in class!

All you need for a fun time playing your darlin' uke!
This level is perfect for you, if you have taken ‘Intermediate – really get playing’ once or even twice and know a variety of chords in first position (around the 1st 4 frets) very well (for example: A, Am, A7, C, C7, Em, B7, D7, E7, Gm, Dm, G7, Am7), and can easily make a Bb shape, D7, F7 shape, can read tablature well and play melodies, can understand chord progressions (such as I , IV, V), you can learn chords and tunes quickly, and your playing has a very steady rhythm and fluidity. Breathe into the pleasure of playing music to a level that you love!

You will learn: Moveable chords shapes based on Bb, F7, Dm7, D7 shapes and barre chords that can be moved around the fret board. As well as Major & Minor scales of C, D, G & F and more scales of interest such as a Jazz Blues Scale. Right hand technique will include finger style picking patterns, melody playing, riffs and licks, and a variety of strum feels such as Reggae, Swing, and Blues Shuffle. You will play tunes from a repertoire of Jazz, Blues, Country, Classical, Folk & contemporary tunes! There is something for everyone.
This course deepens your theoretical understanding, adds variety to your chords, picking and strumming, taking your Ukulele playing to the next level. Plus it is great, concentrated, I have to say, fun. And a challenge! Time to switch off to the world outside and dive into Uke land!

Eduardo Garcia: Is the newest member of the Ruby’s Ukes teaching faculty, from Mexico, Eduardo has quickly become a Vancouver Ukulele staple. Being both classically and traditionally trained, he was active in a wide diversity of music projects in Mexico, teaching, performing and writing music. Eduardo played several different traditional string instruments with ‘Amate’, a traditional mariachi band based in Guadalajara, that performs regularly inside and outside of Mexico. Eduardo also played the cello and arranged for the ‘Victor Manuel Medeles’ chamber orchestra. He was the founder/director of the Academia de Ukuleles de la Ribera (Lakeside Ukulele Academy) known for it’s work with local children in the community. Eduardo has graced the stages of Ukulele festivals internationally
Eduardo brings a gentle, unassuming, classical approach to music and the ukulele, an instrument now very close to his heart. His students love his clear, concise teaching style!
